PM "won't respond" to ombudsman's "open letter"
Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that some of his colleagues "made a mistake when they reacted to the insults Sasa Jankovic made at his expense."
"I had no need to respond, I have better things to do. Let others play the role of national heroes, the Chinese are waiting for me in Zelezara (steel plant)," the prime minister told reporters at the National Assembly in Belgrade.

Serbia Must Uphold Western 'Values', Ambassador Says
US ambassador to Serbia Kyle Randolph Scott stated on Monday that relations between Belgrade and Washington are positive and getting better - and Serbia should not feel it has to choose between Moscow and Washington.
"I think it is a false dilemma. Serbia can maintain good relationships with both Russia and the West; as it was in the past, the same can be in the future," Scott said.

Ombudsman may run for president "of Cynological Society"
"The only thing left for Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic to do is run for president of the Cynological Society," says Jana Ljubicic.
Ljubicic, a state secretary with the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP), reacted in this way to the speculation that Jankovic may run for president in 2017. She added that Jankovic "already sees himself as Serbia's president."
Ombudsman urges media to oppose any pressure
BELGRADE - Serbian ombudsman Sasa Jankovic on Monday congratulated media and media professionals on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, encouraging them to oppose any form of pressure more strongly and in a more organised manner.
He urged authorities and everyone else to enable media and journalists to work freely and, in particular, refrain from any attacks against them.

Serbian PM Axes Defence Minister For Sexist Remark
Serbia's Prime Minister has belatedly axed his controversial defence minister, Branislav Gasic, who has been in the middle of controversy since early December when he told reporter Zlatija Labovic from TV B92, who had knelt down to get out of the way of her cameraman at a press event: "I love female journalists who get down on their knees easily."

NUNS to decide on complaint against minister
NUNS has announced that Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic has started the process of control due to a statement made by Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.
Stefanovic told RTS that "a story about the surveillance over a journalist in Serbia will soon be launched."
