BELGRADE, April 6 (Tanjug) - According to the latest figures released by the national election commission (RIK), Aleksandar Vucic won 1,994,210 votes - or 55.07 pct - in Sunday's presidential elections with 98.79 pct of the votes counted.

Sasa Jankovic is in second with 16.36 pct, or 576,600 votes.

Sasa Jankovic has met with his associates from the Appeal 100 Initiative to discuss the way he should continue his political activity.

A majority of those he consulted were in favor of forming a movement or a party, the daily Blic reported.

Vučić won Serbia's presidential election yesterday by a huge margin, confirming his domination of the Balkan country as he pursues a delicate balancing act between Europe and Russia.

Presidential candidate Sasa Jankovic, who placed second in Sunday's elections, said election day was "big and important."

Analysts giving instant reactions to Vucic's first-round poll win on Sunday suggested that his triumph puts the Progressive Party leader in an unprecedentedly strong position to take the country in his chosen direction for the next five years.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is projected to have won a clear victory in the country's presidential election. With most votes counted in Sunday's poll, he appears to have won about 55%, the threshold to avoid a run-off.

His closest challenger, Sasa Jankovic, has 15%, while satirical candidate Ljubisa Preletacevic is third with 9%.
