Killing of bar head might be assassination, Turkish PM says
The killing of Tahir Elçi, the head of Diyarbak?r Bar Association, in a gun attack Nov. 28 might be an assassination, Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has said.
"There are two possibilities," he said during a televized speech on Nov. 28.
"One of them is an assassination," he said, "If there is such a thing, this will be revealed," he said.
All bar heads going to Diyarbak?r after Elçi's killing
Upon the killing of the head of Diyarbak?r Bar Association Tahir Elçi, head of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) Metin Feyzio?lu called all heads of bar associations in Turkey to go to Diyarbak?r.
Feyzio?lu himself also departed for Diyarbak?r with the executive board of TBB. He said, "This mean attack was not against our brother Tahir but against the entire Turkey."
Turkish chief prosecutor, lawyers attacked on way to scene of bar head murder
A team, including prosecutors and Bar Association board members, was attacked Nov. 28 by guns and bazookas as they were approaching the crime scene, where Diyarbak?r Bar head Tahir Elçi and one policeman were killed earlier in the day.
Curfew announced in Diyarbak?r after bar head's killing
A curfew was declared in the southeastern town of Sur, where the Diyarbak?r Bar Association head Tahir Elçi was killed early on Nov. 28.
Diyarbat?r Governor's Office said Elçi and one policeman were killed in a gun attack as two officials were wounded.
