Business environment is improving

BELGRADE - Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbian deputy prime minister and minister of transportation, construction and infrastructure, stated on Friday that the business environment in Serbia is improving, adding that the government is open for entrepreneurs' proposals for its further improvement and strengthening of the economic sector.

Formation of body for cooperation with China to be proposed

BELGRADE - As part of a cooperation mechanism that brings together 16 national coordinators of central and eastern European countries and China, the soonest possible formation of a coordination body for cooperation with China in the field of infrastructure will be proposed, the Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining said on Friday.

China Development Bank interested in projects in Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic, who is also minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, spoke to a China Development Bank (CDB) delegation in Belgrade on Monday about new projects in Serbia, in particular about funding for the construction of a high-speed railway line from Belgrade to Budapest.

Russian Cuts to Gas Supply Worry Serbia

Serbian leaders on Friday confirmed reports that Russia was about to reduce the amount of gas it delivers to Serbia - but said gas supplies generally would not be affected.

The daily newspaper Danas reported on Friday that Russia was cutting gas deliveries to Serbia by 28 per cent as a result of oustanding debts believed to total 200 million US dollars.

Gov't sets up coordination body for gender equality

BELGRADE - The Serbian government made the decision to establish a coordination body for gender equality, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.

The coordination body will consider all issues and coordinate the public administration's work in relation to gender equality in Serbia, the deputy prime minister's office said in a release on Thursday.
