Assad regime helicopter downed in northwest Syria

A Syrian opposition group reported on Feb. 14 that they downed a Syrian regime helicopter in a "de-escalation zone" in northwest Syria.

The helicopter was hit directly while flying over the western Aleppo province, in a rural area of Aleppo that falls within the de-escalation zone of the neighboring province of Idlib.

Russian airstrikes kill 12 civilians in Idlib

Russian warplanes have carried out fresh airstrikes in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria, killing at least 12 civilians, a Syrian civil defense group said on Jan. 21.

The victims included nine members of a single-family, six of whom were children, in Kafr Taal in Aleppo province, according to White Helmets.

Experts: The Damascus Regime is Responsible for Three Sarin Attacks

Experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have come to the conclusion that the Sarin Negative Para Gas, which was used in the major chemical attack on the Ghouta suburb of the Syrian capital Damascus on August 21, 2013, is from the gas reserves in the army of the Syrian government, said diplomats and scientists to Reuters.

US Doesn't Plan to Withdraw From Syrian Manbij Despite Turkey's Warning

The US doesn't intend to withdraw its troops from Syria's Manbij despite Turkey's warnings, US Central Command chief General Joseph Votel said Monday.

Earlier this month, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara couldn't limit its precautionary measures against the YPG to Syria's Afrin district and might move to Manbij, also in Aleppo province.
