A temporary truce in Syria fighting that started at midnight Damascus time (2200 GMT) on Saturday seemed largely to hold, Reuters reported.

Yet, some rebels claimed that there were what they called occasional violations in Hama province on part of government forces.

A "significant increase" of air strikes on Syrian hospitals recently has killed at least 35 patients and medical staff and wounded 72, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Oct. 29.

Russia said Oct. 15 its warplanes had eased back on air strikes in Syria as regime forces press a widening ground offensive, while President Vladimir Putin criticised Washington for not cooperating over the conflict.

At least 12 jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have been killed in Russia's first air strikes on the extremist faction's main Syrian bastion, a monitoring group said.  

Russian airstrikes hit Syrian Turkmen, Syrian Turkmen Council head Abdurrahman Mustafa has said.

Mustafa stated that Russia hit the Free Syrian Army rather than the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). 

They have hit Türkmenda??, Humus and Hama, areas where many Turkmen live, he said, after contacting the regions via telephone on Sept. 30. 

Russian warplanes carried out air strikes in three Syrian provinces along with regime aircraft on Sept. 30, a debut move that came hours after a Russian mandate on the issue and following Moscow's sharp diplomatic moves to back Bashar al-Assad against "terrorism."

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadist group has executed more than 90 people, a third of them civilians, over the past month in areas of war-torn Syria under its control, a monitoring group said on Aug. 29.
