Why is Turkey rushing to give citizenship to Syrians?
The Research Center on Asylum and Migration (IGAM) recently released a report titled "Challenges and Opportunities of Refugee Integration in Turkey." Funded by the German Heinrich Böll Foundation, the report was prepared by Doğuş Şimşek from Istanbul's Koç University and Metin Çorabatır, the UNHCR's former spokesperson in Turkey who is currently heading IGAM.
Trump Bans Admission of Syrian Refugees in USA
The USA will stop admitting refugees from Syria after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Protection of the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States.
Besides banning the admission of Syrian refugees, the document also prohibits the entry in the USA of citizens of another seven mostly-Muslim countries.

Syrian doctors, health workers in Turkey to be given special work permit: Health minister
Syrian doctors and health workers in Turkey will be given special work permission so as to provide treatment to Syrians taking refuge in the country, Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdağ has said.
Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan visits Turkey again
Linday Lohan, a Hollywood star known for her colorful lifestyle, has visited Turkey once again, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Lohan, who was seen with a headscarf in Istanbul's İstinye Park mall, said to reporters she loved Turkey and that Turkey was her second home.

Some 180,000 Syrians born in Turkey since war began
Nearly 180,000 Syrians have been born in Turkey over the last five years, according to Turkey's Health Ministry.
A total of 177,568 Syrians mothers - refugees of the country's bloody civil war - gave birth in Turkey between April 2011 and September 2016, according to the ministry's figures.
80% of Syrian Refugees To Remain in Turkey
About 20% of the nearly 3 million Syrian refugees residing in Turkey are expected to return to their homes, reported BTA.
The largest number, however, will most probably remain in Turkey, announced at a press conference Turkey's Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç.

2016 border security measures included 330 km of walls
Turkey last year erected 330 kilometers (205 miles) of walls along its borders with Syria and Iraq to fight illegal crossings, the Turkish military said on Jan. 14.
According to a Turkish General Staff press statement on border incidents in 2016, Turkey also put up 191 kilometers (119 miles) of reinforced fences along those borders to boost physical security.

EU unlocks 200 million euros for Syrian refugees in Turkey
The European Union on Jan. 12 unlocked another 200 million euros ($213 million) as part of the multi-billion aid package to meet the needs of Syrian refugees being sheltered in Turkey.
