The over-sized Mona Shores Singing Christmas Tree is adorned with 15,000 lights, 5,000 feet of garland and 15 tiers of 220 choir members and 50 other teens singing around the base of the tree.

Atheist New Jersey Councilwoman Charlene Storey, stormed out of the Roselle Park council meeting after legislators voted 4-2 decided to call the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, a “Christmas Tree Lighting”. She stormed out of the meeting and tendered her resignation: “I cannot in good conscience continue to be part of a council that is exclusionary or to work with a Mayor who i such!”

I love Christmas. I really do. I recently realized that I have not celebrated Christmas since moving back to Turkey from the United States in 2005, and I decided, on a whim, to spend Christmas in London, where I am writing this column on Christmas Day.

Glittery glory
Last Saturday was the day of our good old man from Demre, south of Turkey, who turned about to be the most beloved man of the children, St Nicholas aka Santa Claus. Dec. 6 is believed to be the day the saint had passed away, and the day is dedicated to commemorate his benevolent being.
