Voters in 21 EU countries cast ballots on Sunday as elections for the European Parliament reached a crescendo in the Western world's largest democracy.

The country faces the unwelcome prospect of a new political and constitutional logjam if the turnout in the second round of the presidential election on May 5 does not reach the required level.

Europe does not appear to be in good shape ahead of European Parliament elections on May 26, and predictions for the future suggest that it's only going to get worse. Italy's parliament will be dissolved between Christmas and the New Year, a parliamentary source said on Wednesday, opening the way for national elections in early March that look unlikely to throw up a clearcut winner, according to Reuters. 

A special commission is going to investigate the allegations of frauds in the US Presidential elections in 2016 due to doubts on improper voting and voter's registration, reported BNR.

In the commission will be representatives of Republicans and Democratsand the ex and current representative electoral authorities.

There are not enough indications Bulgaria could obtain the necessary number of voting machines in time for the early election in March, the government says.

The cabinet's spokesperson Irina Belcheva has said a study carried out by the government shows it is "almost impossible" to hold talks on acquiring machines on such a short notice.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has made it clear he will wait for until after presidential elections held on Sunday.

"We have to count or motion of confidence," Borisov has added, in a reference to trust in the governing coalition, when asked by reporters after casting a ballot in the Sofia suburb of Bankya.

He has not denied that changes to the cabinet are possible.
