Power cut causes transport upheaval in Athens
An employee of the Athens metro directs tourists outside central Syntagma station Wednesday afternoon after a power cut paralyzed parts of the metro system. The blackout, which started just after 2 p.m. and lasted for several hours, knocked out traffic lights in several parts of the capital, while the fire service received dozens of calls for help from people trapped in elevators.

An Elderly Man Fell into an Elevator Shaft in Sofia
A 75-year-old man fell in a elevator shaft from the 4th floor of a block in the quarter of the Holy Trinity, the BNT reported. The signal was filed at 12.04 am for Emergency Assistance. An elevator plunged three storeys down a tax office in Volos, in central Greece, sending three people to hospital, according to reports Monday.
Reports said seven people were on board when the accident took place.
