Acropolis lift breaks down, again
A platform lift for disabled persons at the Acropolis Hill is out of service due to a faulty component, officials said Tuesday.
If a spare part is not available in Greece, it will have to be ordered from Germany which would mean a waiting period of four days, officials said.

Acropolis lift back in operation
A platform lift for disabled persons at the Acropolis Hill is available to the public following repair work, Greece's Ministry of Culture said Wednesday.
Installed in 2004 as part of an effort to make Athens more accessible during the Olympics and Paralympics, the cage-like elevator has become increasingly prone to failure.

Four Parks in Sofia with easier access for people with disabilities.
Measures to be taken are considered by the Environment Committee of Sofia Municipality.
They are included in the report of the deputy mayor of social affairs Albena Atanasova. At the moment there are ramps and an automatic toilet for disabled people in "West Park".

Injury of doctor in hospital elevator fall prompts complaints
The Medical Association of Athens (ISA) and the union of Greek hospital workers, known by its acronym POEDIN, have complained following the injury of a doctor at the Ippokrateio hospital when the elevator he was in plunged several floors.
The ISA referred to an "unprecedented incident which points to the collapse of the National Health Service due to underfunding and understaffing."
