European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo

MITROVICA - EULEX Acting Head of Mission Joelle Vachter and Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar talked in northern Mitrovica on Tuesday with political representatives of north Kosovo Serbs about the security of citizens and the rule of law.

PRISTINA - The Serbian Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes is in contact with Kosovo's Special Prosecution Office over Yusuf Sonmez, a Turkish doctor suspected of having conducted illegal human organ transplantations, Eulex has confirmed.

The Serbian authorities say they have located Yusuf Sonmez - who the EU rule of law of mission in Kosovo, EULEX, has accused of people trafficking and organised crime - in Amsterdam.

The EU rule-of-law mission, EULEX, issued the arrest warrants on Monday after Stevan Vulovic, the mayor of the Zubin Potok municipality, and Slavisa Ristic, a former mayor of Zubin Potok, failed to turn up for interviews with a prosecutor.

BELGRADE - Head of the Serbian government office for Kosovo Marko Djuric has criticised EULEX for issuing arrest warrants against the current and former mayors of Zubin Potok, Stevan Vulovic and Slavisa Ristic, and he called for dialogue as the means to solve those problems.

Warrants for arrest of Serb leaders in north

"Peaceful protests over political persecution"

ZVEČAN -- Councilors from four northern Kosovo municipalities say they would stage peaceful protests against the EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX.

According to them, EULEX is acting contrary to its mandate through political persecution of Serbs.
