The issue of how the Christian doctrine views homosexualtiy through its appoved sacred scriptures is one of great contention. There are passages in the Bible, both in the Old and New Testament that clearly condemn sodomy and the act of homosexuality. Engaging in sexual relations with a person of the same sex is considered a mortal sin by the Church.

The sexual abuse of minors in Turkey
The bill in Turkey which will enable "the release of sexual abuse suspects by marrying them with the victim" caused an outcry; however, Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı, the head of the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TİHV), is "grateful" for the bill.

Australian Senate rejects public vote on gay marriage
Australia's upper house of parliament, or the Senate, has rejected a government plan to hold a public vote on recognizing gay marriage.
The Senate voted by a margin of 33 to 29 late Nov. 7 against the non-binding public plebiscite on same-sex marriage which Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's conservative government had planned to hold on Feb. 11.

Police save sexual assailant from lynching in Turkey's south
A 59-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy was rescued from an attempting lynching in the southern province of Adana on Oct. 18, Doğan News Agency has reported.
The boy, identified only by his initials N.A., started to shout in the middle of the street, claiming that a man, A.T., was abusing him in the Sarıyakup neighborhood of the Seyhan district.
Turkish child marriage film sheds light on hidden abuses
Child brides in Turkey are often raped, beaten and forced to undergo virginity tests, according to Eylem Atakav, the director of a new documentary which aims to break the silence on the taboo issue.
"Growing Up Married," due to premiere in London on Oct. 30, examines the impact of child marriage on four women who were forced to marry at a young age in western Turkey.
