Rome's Fiumicino Airport Remains Closed Following Fire Incident

A fire has left the main airport in Rome - Fiumicino closed for an indefinite term.

The incident occurred on Wednesday around 5pm and the fire left the main terminal in Rome closed for international flights.

No material damages have been reported yet. Some of the airport employees have been affected by the heavy smoke, as reported by airport officials.

Turkish Airlines Basel flight diverted back to Istanbul due to hoax

A Turkish Airlines (THY) plane flying from Istanbul to Basel was diverted as an emergency measure on April 17 in the third bomb scare on a THY flight in less than a month.

The plane changed its route and returned while in Bulgarian airspace to return to Istanbul Atatürk Airport, according to Do?an News Agency.

Two Attackers on Istanbul Police Department Neutralised

Turkish security forces neutralised two attackers armed with bombs and long-barrel guns, who opened fire on a police department in Vatan Street in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The security guards launched a counter-attack, killing the female attacker, while the mail assailant, who fled injured, was arrested in less than an hour.

Turkish Airlines plane en route to Lisbon lands in Istanbul over bomb scare

A Turkish Airlines (THY) plane flying from Istanbul to Portugal returned to Istanbul Atatürk Airport on April 1 after a bomb threat.

Security measures were taken near the plane.

On March 30, another THY plane traveling from Istanbul to Sao Paolo made an emergency landing in Casablanca.

Sofia Airport, Varna Airport Voted among Top 10 Airports in Eastern Europe

Sofia Airport and Varna Airport have made it into the top 10 of Best Airports in Eastern Europe in a ranking of Skytrax for 2015.

Bulgaria is the only country in the region to have two airports in the top 10 for Eastern Europe.

Sofia Airport ranks 7th and Varna Airport ranks 10th.
