Social housing plans proceed

The first international tender for the utilization of unused state properties is expected to be launched within the year, with the aim of having residences built by 2025, some of which will be allocated with socioeconomic criteria and a low price to people aged up to 39.

Fire in northern Athens factory under partial control

A fire broke out following multiple explosions at a cookware factory in the northern Athenian suburb of Kifissia on Wednesday afternoon, prompting civil protection authorities to issue an emergency message urging residents to stay indoors. The fire has since been brought under partial control and no longer poses further danger.

Car hits two people in Athens center

Two people suffered minor injuries after a car hit them on Tuesday evening in an avenue in central Athens. 

The accident took place in the Kifissias avenue at the Ampelokipoi area. It all started when two cars collided with each other. Due to the collision, one of the cars went off the road and onto the sidewalk hitting two people, a 63-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman.

3 arrested after steel gate falls on 9-year-old at Athens primary school

Three people have been arrested after a steel gate, which was being erected at an Athens primary school, fell on a 9-year-old pupil. 

The boy, who attends the 3rd Primary School in the northern suburb of Kifissia, was slightly injured in the incident, which occurred around 1.30 p.m., and was transferred to hospital by ambulance.

Technical Olympic to build luxurious complexes by order of the Church

Three luxury residential complexes in the northern Athens suburb of Kifissia and southern Vouliagmeni are to be developed on behalf of the Church of Greece by the Technical Olympic group.

The listed company has prevailed in successive tenders held by EKYO, the Church's asset utilization agency, in order to utilize top-range plots of land available to the Church through consideration.

Opposition to building heights bonus growing

Kifissia in northern Athens is the latest municipality to join the front against a bonus included in the building regulation which enables the construction of higher buildings.

In a unanimous decision on Thursday, Kifissia's municipal council requested the suspension of the issuance of new building permits making use of the bonuses.
