Athens Mayor Haris Doukas, a candidate for the leadership of socialist PASOK, said individual members of leftist SYRIZA, including former PASOK officials "who haven't mocked or derided the party," would be welcomed into the party. "Otherwise, we will be stuck at about 13%," he said.

But, on the contrary, he strongly opposes an electoral coalition with main opposition SYRIZA.

The objection of unconstitutionality submitted by SYRIZA and PASOK against the article of the Ministry of Health “Strengthening of public health structures by private providers and private physicians to address needs that may endanger public health – Enabling provision – Amendment of article 56 and replacement of par. 11 of Article 71 of Law No. 4931/2022”.

SYRIZA and PASOK challenged the constitutionality of a contentious article in a conservative government bill reforming mental health services, during a parliamentary debate on Monday.

A fragmented opposition, with left-wing SYRIZA and socialist PASOK close together in a contest for second place, was the saving grace for ruling center-right New Democracy after dropping more than 12 percentage points in June's European Parliament election, compared with its national election score just 12 months prior.

In an unusual move, citizens will have a chance to meet with the leader of the main SYRIZA opposition on Thursday.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Stefanos Kasselakis announced that his office at the party's headquarters in Koumoundourou Square will be open for one-on-one meetings with citizens from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A possible investment in a floating liquid natural gas (LNG) storage unit in the Pagasetic Gulf is not likely to be implemented due to lack of sustainable economic and political support, Environment and Energy Minister Thodoros Skylakakis told Parliament on Monday.

Greek left-of-center opposition leaders have welcomed the results of the 2024 French legislative election, where a leftist coalition, formed to prevent the far right from gaining power, has won the most parliamentary seats.

He highlighted the importance of listening to all party members, regardless of differing viewpoints, and underscored his refusal to tolerate any actions that may undermine the party’s integrity.

Employees of Avgi were waiting for Stefanos Kasselakis outside Koumoundourou, where the SYRIZA Political Secretariat was meeting. They expressed their displeasure at the decision to cease the daily publication of Avgi.
