A rare snow leopard captured as it savaged livestock in a remote village in the Indian Himalaya will be sent to a zoo instead of being released, officials said on May 3, triggering outrage from activists.

A male leopard which injured five people in southern India earlier this month has escaped from a zoo, sparking a frantic search for the big cat, wildlife officials said on Feb. 15.

A leopard which entered a school in the Indian city of Bangalore injured six people who were trying to capture it.

The leopard entered the school in the Indian city of Bangalore around 4:00am local time, but it wasn’t discovered until it attacked an employee in the late afternoon.
