The Prespes name deal between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia contains a number of gray areas that were certain to cause problems between the two countries.

Deliberations continued on Thursday in the parliament of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on the proposals submitted by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev last Friday to revise the country's constitution in order to ratify the name deal signed with Greece last June. 

The government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) submitted draft constitutional amendments to Parliament on Friday that would formally rename the country "North Macedonia" under the name deal signed with Greece, but Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has reportedly expressed reservations about an article that hints at a Macedonian people. 

The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is on Friday expected to present his government's proposed amendments to the country's constitution. The amendments are necessary for the ratification of the name deal signed with Greece in June under which the Balkan nation will be called North Macedonia. 

Macedonian government and opposition MPs who backed the historic 'name' agreement denied claims that they had taken bribes or been offered amnesty in exchange for their votes.

Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias on Sunday issued a stern statement accusing New Democracy leader of being irresponsible and unserious when it comes to matters of foreign policy following the opposition leader's criticism of the government's concessions in the Macedonia name deal with Skopje.

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis slammed the deal reached between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on Tuesday, calling it a "bad deal" that recognizes a Macedonian ethnicity and language.

About 1,000 people, mostly ethnic Albanians, protested on Wednesday in front of the Macedonian government building in Skopje, outraged by the prosecution's last minute decision to drop charges of premeditated murder against an ethnic Macedonian who slammed his car into a four-year old ethnic Albanian child in 2016.

UN envoy Matthew Nimetz has reportedly found a compromise solution in the Greece-Macedonia dispute over the name of the latter, a former Yugoslav republic.

And the county's new name could be "(Republika) GornaMakedonija."

Macedonian MPs on Thursday adopted an eagerly anticipated law that extends the official use of the Albanian language across the country.
