Kenya's Dennis Kimetto smashed the marathon world record in Berlin, winning the race in a time of two hours, two minutes and 57 seconds after setting a scintillating pace from the start to shave 26 seconds off the previous best

World famous runners will participate in this year's biggest ultramarathon in Bulgaria - Persenk Ultra 2014.

The event starts Friday at midnight in the city center of Bulgaria's Asenovgrad, Nikolay Marangozov, one of the organizers of the marathon, told Darik news.

2008 Olympic Games women's marathon champion Constantina Dita on Sunday morning ran in the 4th edition of the Marathon of Gratitude held in Targu-Jiu, the capital of the southern Gorj County, dedicated to Romania's WWI heroes, sculptor Constantin Brancusi and to the marathoner, also born in the county.
