Prescription fines since 2012 reach 2 bln, says minister
Doctors, pharmacists, diagnostic centers and private clinics have been fined more than 2 million euros since 2012 for breaching prescription rules, Health Minister Makis Voridis revealed Friday.
Pharmacists’ chief warns of drugs shortage in Greece
There is a shortage of medicines in Greece, particularly vaccines for children, the head of the countrys Pharmacists Association, Constantinos Lourantos, warned on Thursday.
He blamed a lack of supply and firms exporting drugs to markets where they could sell them at a better price as the key factors causing the alleged shortage.
Up to 4% Price Hike of Over-the-counter Drugs Expected in Bulgaria
A price hike of up to 4% of over-the-counter drugs is expected, according to professor Ilko Getov, President of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union.
The main reason for the increased prices is the expiration of the one-year drug price freeze moratorium, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reports.
Pharmacists to strike over profits
Pharmacists are set to strike on Thursday to protest the governments decision to slash their profit margins.
The action was recommended by the head of the Panhellenic Pharmacists Association, Kyriakos Theodosiadis, following a meeting of its members on Saturday.

The pharmacists accused the coalition of making last-minute changes to draft legislation that will limit the role of pharmacies and threaten the livelihoods of some 12,000 Greek pharmacists.
