Greece condemns British refusal of mediation on Parthenon sculptures
Greece on Saturday criticised the "negativism" of the British Museum in rejecting mediation by UNESCO to help resolve the decades-old dispute over returning ancient Parthenon sculptures to Athens.

The British Museum has turned down a request by Greek authorities for a process of mediation, facilitated by Unesco, on the subject of the Parthenon Marbles that are currently on display in London.

While stressing their “honest respect for the organization” but also “the already good relationships with colleagues and institutions in Greece”, the British Museum in its letter date March 26 of 2015 rejects mediation of UNESCO and indicates that “is not a government body, and the marbles do not belong to the British government.
Museums to offer programmes free of charge on May 9-18

The founder of the museum, Professor Hüsamettin Koçan, said the most important feature of Baks? Museum was that it did not have limits.

Parthenon Marbles: Matter sees light at UK's House of Commons on Mon.
Greece has called on the British government to stop stonewalling the return of the Parthenon Marbles despite a request for negotiations from the United Nations. The stance shown by the U.K. has been described as "clinging on to stolen booty for dear life itself" rather than return the sculptures to their rightful home, a country that is on the brink of economic collapse.
Greek museums and sites to stay open til 7 p.m.
Greece?s most popular museums and archaeological sites will be open for longer from Wednesday.
The extended timetable, introduced for the first time last year, will run until October 31.
Sites, including the Acropolis, Sounio, Vergina and Delos, will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., while museums will open their doors at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Demolition of Kyme Museum stopped
The demolition and closure of the Kyme Archaeology Museum and Excavation House in ?zmir's Alia?a district, which municipal authorities have said would be replaced with a new building constructed on the present site, has been stopped by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
