Monthly Inflation is 0.7% in April Compared to March 2017

The consumer price index for April 2017 compared to March 2017 is 100.7%, i.e. the monthly inflation is 0.7%. Inflation since the start of the year (April 2017 compared to December 2016) is 1.5%, while the annual inflation for April 2017 compared to April 2016 is 2.6%, the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced.

Ankara announces ambitious measures in bid to ease skyrocketing food prices

Turkey's Food Committee has decided to take a number of measures to raise storage and monitoring standards and to diversify foreign trade dynamics and marketing methods in order to curb a persistent rise in food prices, which have played a key role in pushing up the country's inflation rate. 

NSI: Negative Inflation of Minus 0.5% Registered in March, 2017

Bulgaria's consumer price index (CPI) in March 2017 compared to February 2017 is 99.5%, i.e. the monthly inflation is minus 0.5%, the press centre of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced.

Inflation since the start of the year (March 2017 compared to December 2016) is 0.8%, while the annual inflation for March 2017 compared to March 2016 is 1.9%.

Greek consumer prices rise in January, led by transport, housing costs

Greece's annual EU-harmonized inflation rate picked up in January, statistics service data showed on Wednesday, with the reading coming in above market expectations, hitting almost a five-year high.

The reading in January was 1.5 percent from 0.3 percent in December. Consumer prices were led higher by transport, housing, telecoms, alcoholic beverages and tobacco costs.

Greece's consumer price index flat in December

Greece's annual headline consumer price index was unchanged at zero percent in December year-on-year, with the annual pace of deflation slowing sharply from -0.9 percent in November, statistics service data showed on Wednesday.

The data also showed the European Union-harmonized inflation rate turned positive in December at 0.3 percent from -0.2 percent in November.

The reading in December was 0.3 percent from -0.2 percent in November. Consumer prices were led higher by alcoholic beverages, tobacco, housing, hotels and transportation costs.

Greek consumer prices deflate in November, led by durables, apparel

Greece's annual EU-harmonised inflation rate turned negative in November after a positive reading in the previous month, statistics service data showed on Friday.

The reading in November was -0.2 percent from 0.6 percent in October. Consumer prices were led lower by durable goods, apparel and footwear.

Turkey 'set to cut share of food in inflation basket to ease consumer prices'

The share of food prices in the inflation basket will be decreased from 24 to 20 percent by the end of the year to ease consumer price increases, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci has said, daily Habertürk reported Oct. 17. 

The government recently restructured its food committee in line with its fight against stubbornly rising food prices, which have pushed up the inflation rate.
