Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin on Monday visited the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces for the first time since assuming office.

Vulin was welcomed Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, who presented to him the major tasks, organization, development and modernization of the Serbian Army's resources.

MOSCOW - The Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) want to take part in demining operations in Syria, including the city of Palmyra, but currently lack the capacities for this, Serbian Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic said in Moscow Tuesday.

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic on Monday met with US Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, to discuss bilateral military cooperation.

"If someone is crazy enough to make his airspace available to a third country willing to attack Serbia, we have a missile capable of knocking out all major cities in the region," Miroslav Lazanski, a military observer with the Belgrade-based newspaper Politika, told Sputnik Serbia.

A note on Serbia's accession to a technical agreement on establishing the EU's HELBROC Battlegroup was signed in Brussels on Tuesday.

The note was signed by the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic, and his Greek counterpart, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, the Serbian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Army chief visits Serbian peacekeepers in Cyprus

Chief-of-Staff of the Serbian Army (VS) Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic has visited the soldiers deployed as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus.

During his trip on Monday, Dikovic said that the Serbian army members were "performing all tasks within this UN multinational operation in a highly professional way."
