General Curtis Scaparrotti, head of U.S. European Command and NATO's supreme allied commander, is set to pay a visit to Ankara on Aug. 1 amid heightened tension between Turkey and the U.S.

Turkey's Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti on June 27 discussed the Turkish-U.S. Manbij roadmap over the phone, according to Turkish military.

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of NATO Allied Command Operations Curtis Scaparrotti arrives on an official visit to Bulgaria.

He comes at the invitation of Defense Chief Lieutenant General Andrei Botev. During his visit, he will also meet Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krassimir Karakachanov.
