NATO's top commanders meet in Istanbul to discuss Ukraine, Syria

NATO?s highest military authority, the Military Committee, will convene in Istanbul for a three-day session starting Sept. 11 to review security challenges in Europe and the Middle East, as well as ongoing operations in Afghanistan.

The meeting will be hosted by Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar.

Top US commander for NATO due to visit Turkey's K?r?ehir for train-equip program

NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander of U.S. European Command Gen. Phil Breedlove will on May 12 visit the Central Anatolian province of K?r?ehir, where Turkey and the U.S. are due to start a train-equip program for the moderate Syrian opposition.

Breedlove will also attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Antalya on May 13-14. 

NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe to Arrive in Bulgaria on 2-Day Visit

General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, will arrive in Bulgaria on Tuesday on an official two-day visit.

During his visit, he will meet with Bulgaria's Deputy Defense Minister Dimitar Kyumyurdzhiev and Bulgaria's Chief of Defense, Vice-Admiral Rumen Nikolov.

NATO's Europe Commander to Meet Bulgaria DefMin, Chief of Defense

Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Gen Philip Breedlove is on a two-day visit to Bulgaria on Wednesday and Thursday.

Breedlove is due to meet newly-appointed Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev and Vice Admiral Rumen Nikolov, who became Chief of Defense in June.

He is to lay wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.
