Media watchdog imposes fines on 3 digital platforms
The Turkish television and radio watchdog has announced that administrative sanctions have been imposed on Netflix, MUBI and Blu TV for certain content they hosted on their platforms.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) addressed the monitoring reports on "video-on-demand" digital platforms during its weekly regular meeting.
Media watchdog to impose age limits on news bulletins
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) is set to introduce age restrictions on news bulletins, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin has announced.
Speaking at Sakarya University, Şahin explained, "We will put signs indicating age limits on news bulletins. For example, those under the age of 13 or 18 should not watch certain segments or 'This content contains violence.'"
FOX faces sanctions over controversial series as watchdog imposes fines
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed an administrative fine and two program suspensions on FOX TV for airing the contentious series Kızıl Goncalar (Red Rosebuds).
The decision comes in response to over 31,000 complaints received, RTÜK said on Dec. 28, citing violations of national and spiritual values.
Watchdog takes steps against offensive language in broadcasts
The Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) unanimously has decided on the principle of "appropriate language" to prevent insulting and slanderous statements in sports broadcasts.
Türkiye bans access to VOA and DW broadcasters
Türkiye's media regulator blocked access to the Turkish language services of Voice of America (VOA) and Deutsche Welle (DW) websites after the international public broadcasters refused to apply for licenses the regulator had requested.

Government to scrutinize TV shows to ‘protect core values’
A presidential circular published on the Official Gazette has said necessary steps will be taken to "counter" the "harmful" effects of TV shows that are against the core values of the society.
The circular added that it has been seen observed that some local adaptation of foreign TV shows include such elements.
