A first batch of vaccines developed by Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac has arrived in Turkey, after a two-week delay.

Officials said Greece expects to receive 419,250 doses by the end of January and an additional 333,450 in February. By the end of March, the country will have received a total of 1,255,800 doses.

The European Union will buy an extra 100 million doses of Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine, bringing the total from the two firms to 300 million doses, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday.

Israeli officials said on Wednesday that plans to create a "green" Covid-19 passport would soon be implemented as Israel gears up to begin mass vaccinations. 

The second - and larger - batch of 83,850 doses of the Covid-19 jab developed by Pfizer/BioNTech arrived in Greece with a dedicated flight that landed at Athens International Airport on Tuesday morning.

Deputy Minister of Civil ProtectionNikos Hardalias, who was present at the airport, told the press the government is continuing "based on our operational plan."

A total of 471 people had been vaccinated in Greece by Monday afternoon with the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech which arrived in the country on December 25, and one person developed a minor allergic reaction, senior Health Ministry official Marios Themistokleous told journalists on Monday.

Themistokleous said he got the jab himself earlier in the day.

The distribution of an initial 200 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech across the European Union will be completed by September, a spokesman for the EU Commission said on Monday.
