Bulgarian Police Detains Ten Syrian Illegal Migrants, Alleged Trafficker

Bulgarian police detained early on Sunday a group of ten Syrian illegal migrants, as they were traveling through the territory of the district of Stara Zagora.

The illegal migrants were uncovered in the cargo compartment of a van and the driver of the vehicle was also detained.

The Bulgarian police detained seventeen illegal immigrants in the district of Stara Zagora, which is the second case in the region in less than a month.

The immigrants were traveling in a vehicle, which was involved in a road accident on Trakia Motorway near the town of Chirpan, private bTV station reports.

Repair works began on Monday on two Bulgarian motorways - Hemus and Trakia and the largest boulevard in Sofia - Tsarigradsko Shose.

Road Infrastructure Agency Chief Decries Prolonged Underfunding

Lazar Lazarov, Chairman of the Management Board of Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA), has complained of the decades-long underfunding of the unit.

In a Tuesday interview for the morning broadcast of Nova TV, he pointed out that the only source of revenues for the RIA road repair budget were vignette stickers.

Three People Killed in Car Crash Near Bulgaria's Belozem

Three people were killed on Friday night after a severe car collision on Trakiya Motorway. Two more people remain in critical condition.

The incident happened in the region close to the village of Belozem, as cars were travelling from Burgas to Sofia, as announced by the Plovdiv Traffic Police Office.
