Over the next 24 hours, expect cloudy skies with rainfall across the eastern half of the country, where precipitation may be intense in some areas. Meanwhile, the western half will see clouds clearing during the day, becoming mostly sunny. However, by afternoon, cloud cover will return, especially in mountainous regions, bringing rain in some areas.

Strong storms, winds and drops in temperature are the main features

After the unseasonal balmy temperatures over the last few days, the weather will deteriorate in most parts of the country beginning on Friday until Saturday, with gale-force winds, rainstorms, lightning and local hail, according to a bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Service (EMY) on Thursday afternoon.

Overnight, rainfall across the country will temporarily cease, with some areas experiencing breaks in the clouds. The northwest wind will weaken, particularly in the southwest regions where it will subside. Minimum temperatures will range between 2°C and 7°C, dropping to around 0°C in the valleys of Southwestern Bulgaria and approximately 1°C in Sofia.

Overnight, the precipitation zone will gradually shift eastward, with significant amounts expected in parts of Central and Eastern Bulgaria, accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds in the eastern half of the country will mostly come from the west-northwest, blowing at moderate speeds. Minimum temperatures will range between 5°C and 10°C, with around 5°C expected in Sofia.

As the new week unfolds, Bulgarians are greeted with the promise of sunny skies and rising temperatures, courtesy of a southerly wind ushering in a welcome warmth. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) forecasts maximum temperatures ranging between 29° and 34° across the country, with Sofia hovering around a balmy 30 degrees.

Tonight, the weather will be predominantly clear across the country. In the eastern half, there will be a gentle northerly breeze, while in other regions, winds will be minimal. Overnight temperatures will range between 7°C and 12°C, with Sofia experiencing around 7°C.

During the nighttime, the weather will be predominantly clear and calm. Minimum temperatures will range mostly between 3°C and 8°C, with temperatures around 5°C in Sofia. Tomorrow's weather will be sunny with a light to moderate east-northeast wind. Maximum temperatures will range between 23°C and 28°C, slightly cooler along the Black Sea coast, and around 25°C in Sofia.

Tonight's weather will be clear and relatively calm. Overnight lows will range between 4°C and 9°C, with temperatures in Sofia hovering around 5°C. Tomorrow promises sunny and warm conditions. Expect a moderate east-northeast wind. The maximum daytime temperatures will range between 22°C and 27°C, with temperatures in Sofia around 24°C.
