Vice President Kamala Harris sidestepped a direct question Wednesday on preventing further Palestinian deaths from U.S.-funded bombs in Gaza, instead acknowledging the toll on civilians and emphasizing the need for a two-state solution.

Former Greek president Prokopis Pavlopoulos emphasized that a resolution to the Cyprus issue must align with both international and European law.

Speaking at a special event hosted by the Academy of Athens, Pavlopoulos criticized the handling of the issue by Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar announced Tuesday that Türkiye and Greece would participate in the next meeting with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the Cyprus issue.

The announcement came after an informal dinner at U.N. headquarters in New York, with Nikos Christodoulides, leader of the Greek Cypriot administration.

The tripartite meeting with the U.N. chief will not entertain the idea of a federation, said the top diplomat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Wednesday.

"The secretary-general invited the two leaders to a dinner," Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu told reporters in Washington, D.C. "They will meet at a three-way dinner in New York on Oct. 15."
