Two Greeks in quake-stricken Nepal reported safe

A Greek woman who was feared missing in Nepal following a deadly earthquake has informed her family she is well.

The Cretan woman?s father told Mega TV on Monday that his daughter had been in a mountain village when the 7.8 Richter earthquake struck and had not realised the damage it caused.

Another Greek in Nepal has also been confirmed as being safe. The death toll from the quake has risen to more than 3,200.

It also emerged that a team of eight Greek climbers from Trikala aiming to scale Mount Everest were not in Nepal at the time of the earthquake because they were tricked by the sherpa they hired.

According to reports, they had each paid 11,500 euros to their guide but he failed to turn up for their meeting in Kathmandu, leading to the climbers returning to Greece earlier than planned.
