Two more migrants found dead in Gavdos island shipwreck

Two more migrant bodies were recovered on Monday, bringing the death toll to seven from a shipwreck off Greece's southernmost island of Gavdos last Friday. The bodies were found in rocky areas northwest of the island.

The Greek Coast Guard retrieved the remains, and search efforts continue for more than 30 missing individuals. One body was located at Agios Ioannis beach, and the other on a nearby small beach.

The wreck occurred Friday night, 12.5 nautical miles south of Gavdos, when a boat carrying 82 Pakistani nationals capsized in rough seas. Five bodies were recovered earlier, and 39 survivors were rescued. One remains in critical condition at a hospital in Hania, Crete.

Authorities have identified a human trafficker among the victims. On the same night, four other shipwrecks occurred in the region, with more than 200 migrants rescued.
