Meet Market | Athens | July 6-7

Athens' Zappeion outdoor promenade will host the Meet Market (themeetmarket.gr) on the weekend of July 6-7, offering a vibrant showcase of small designers' clothing, handmade jewelry, gourmet treats and more under the shade of the flowering jacaranda trees. Over 80 local designers, artists and producers will present their wares, all made in Greece.

Missing train container found

The container of the commercial train that was missing and being sought by investigators of the deadly head-on train collision in late February 2023 in Tempe, central Greece, was found on a private plot of land in Thessaloniki, many kilometers from the crash site, according to reports on Friday.

Serbian Armed Forces display HQ-17AE anti-aircraft defence system for first time

KRUSEVAC - The Serbian Armed Forces' newly-acquired HQ-17AE anti-aircraft defence system was publicly displayed for the first time at Friday's tactical and technical assembly in Krusevac, also attended by Serbian PM Milos Vucevic and government ministers.

The HQ-17AE is a Chinese-made short-range anti-aircraft defence system designed to protect troops on land.

Prosecutor seeks conviction of sailing coach for rape of minor

A prosecutor is urging the conviction of a 40-year-old sailing coach accused of rape and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The coach, previously sentenced to 13 years for sexual exploitation but acquitted of rape in the first trial, now faces retrial following a prosecution appeal.

Students underperform in history, physics and maths in university entrance exam

Almost 60% of candidates in the recent Panhellenic examinations scored less than 50% in the history, physics and mathematics papers, the results from the Education Ministry have shown.

The annual exams, which this year were sat by 90,416 candidates, determine who enters the country's universities.

Vucevic: If international law was respected, gov't would have met in Gracanica

KRUSEVAC - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said on Friday that, due to a lack of respect of international law, his cabinet had gathered in Krusevac - a city in the south of central Serbia - earlier in the day instead of in Gracanica or at Gazimestan in Kosovo-Metohija.
