Putin congratulates Erdoğan over referendum win

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 18 for winning the April 16 referendum on constitutional amendments, the Kremlin and Turkish state media said.

Putin telephoned Erdoğan to congratulate him over the win of the "yes" side in the referendum, state-run Anadolu Agency said, quoting presidential sources.

Europe's attitude toward Turkey anti-democratic: Deputy PM Kurtulmuş

The attitude of European countries toward Turkey is anti-democratic and against European values and human rights, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said on March 20.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Kurtulmuş said it was unacceptable for German newspapers to carry so many headlines about Turkey, saying that was meddling in Ankara's internal affairs.

An independent Kurdistan? Really?

The independence of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is being discussed once and more. Most recently, KRG President Massoud Barzani cited the disintegration of Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia in reference to Iraq's future. He inflamed the longstanding discussion about independence, saying, "Kurds have the right to self-determination just as Eastern European people do."
