Vucic: No one will be able to get away with attacking Serbia

BELGRADE - No one will be able to get away with attacking Serbia, and we will defend our fatherland and everyone in Serbia, President Aleksandar Vucic said Friday after Freedom 2017, an event that commemorated Belgrade's WWII Liberation Day, showcasing the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces at the Batajnica military airport.

The presentation of a part of Serbian Army's operative capabilities took place on Friday at the military airport Batajnica, near the Serbian capital.

The event, "Freedom 2017," marked the anniversary of the liberation of German-occupied Belgrade in the Second World War, carried out by the Yugoslav People's Army and the Red Army.

The Serbian Army (VS) awaits the October 20 celebration of the WW2 Belgrade Liberation Day prepared, says Colonel Mihajlo Zogovic.

In a statement for Sputnik, carried on Monday by Beta, Zogovic invited citizens to come to Belgrade's municipality of Batajnica and together with their army celebrate this important historic day.

Newly-acquired MiG-29s to enter operational use in June 2018

BELGRADE - The six MiG-29 jets acquired by the Serbian Armed Forces from Russia will be in operational use from June 2018, the RTS reported on Tuesday.

The planes, which arrived disassembled, will be assembled for unveiling at the Batajnica military airport on October 20, the 73rd anniversary of the WWII liberation of Belgrade.

Vulin: MiG-29 jets to be unveiled at October 20 ceremony

NOVI SAD - Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday all six MiG-29 jets acquired by the Serbian Air Force - two of which arrived from Russia late Monday - would be in Serbia by Friday and unveiled at an October 20 ceremony that will mark the anniversary of the WWII liberation of Belgrade.

Russian fighter jets arrive in Serbia

Russia began delivering a gift of six MiG-29 fighter jets to Serbia this week, in a move that could raise tensions between the EU candidate country and its neighbours in the Balkans.
Moscow is giving the secondhand jets to Serbia for free, but they are arriving disassembled and Belgrade will have to pay close to €200 million to rebuild them.
