4.6 earthquake shakes Mount Athos
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the Mount Athos monastic community in northeastern Greece on Friday morning.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the quake's epicenter was located 10 kilometers west-northwest of Karyes at a depth of 13.7 kilometers.

Seismologist predicts major earthquakes in the coming months
Greek seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos has warned that significant earthquakes are likely in the near future, following a period of seismic calm in 2024.
In a social media post, Papadopoulos pointed out that this year has seen just nine earthquakes of magnitude 7 or greater, well below the typical annual range of 14 to 18.
4.2 magnitude quake registered off Kos island
A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was registered off the eastern island of Kos on Friday morning. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter of the quake, which struck at 11.29 a.m., was 33 kilometers south-southwest of Kefalos, the westernmost town of the island, at a depth of more than 100 km.
