Pride parades

BELGRADE - The organisers of the Belgrade Pride Parade believe the parade will be held on Sunday, adding that they have received assurances from Interior Ministere Nebojsa Stefanovic that the police were doing everything to make sure the event goes through without incident.

BELGRADE - International conference 'The future belongs to us: LGBT rights on the road to the European Union' opens on Friday at the Metropol Hotel in Belgrade.

In addition to long-standing issues such as discrimination, violence and hate speech, the two-day conference will also tackle the quality of social services and cooperation with social work centers.

Organisers of the Pride parade said it will be held on September 28, if permitted by the authorities, after being postponed earlier this year due to the heavy floods that hit the country in May and banned altogether in previous years.

Around 300 activists led a colorful parade through Hanoi Aug. 3 in the nation’s largest ever gay pride event, as communist Vietnam shows signs of increasing tolerance of sexual difference.

The nationalist party Ataka condemned the planned for Saturday Sofia Pride 2014 parade, reports Dnes.bg. 

The nationalists claimed that the event was suggested by “outside forces” and it was a “foreign to our national traditions and morale deformity, called gay parade in Bulgaria”. 

Thousands of activists attended the LGBTI Gay Parade held on Istanbul’s İstiklal Avenue on June 29, capping this year’s Pride Week.

As in every year, the event was marked by colorful chants and slogans that defied both the political order and social discrimination that the LGBTI community regularly faces.

Hundreds of protesters and gay rights activists took to Istanbul’s iconic İstiklal Avenue for the 5th annual Trans Pride march on June 22, one week ahead of the annual LGBTI Pride march.

The march started in front of the French Embassy, as police did not permit demonstrators to gather at Taksim Square.

The group marched to Tünel Square and made a press statement.

BELGRADE -- Pride Week will be held September 22-29, while a walk through central Belgrade is scheduled for September 28, Pride Parade's organizing committee has announced.

The Pride parade, staged under the slogan ‘On the Right Side of the History’, saw protesters march through Zagreb on Saturday and hold a celebration in a city-centre park.
