Beneath a tall residential building in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, policemen and soldiers cautiously circled a shell casing on the ground surrounded by debris.

The fragment -- the remains of a Soviet-era Grad rocket -- had torn through the building's ninth floor, ripping a large hole in its exterior and sending debris in all directions.

The former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksii Arestovych, issued severe criticism of President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he blamed personally for the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Russian forces shot down 36 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and the Crimean peninsula overnight, Moscow's Defence Ministry said Sunday.

"On the night of Oct. 29, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using air-type drones against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped," the ministry said on Telegram.

Kyiv announced that Russian forces attacked the Odesa region yesterday with "Shahid" drones and "Onyx" and "Caliber" rockets, and that the port infrastructure was damaged.
On the other hand, Moscow states that Russian forces shot down seven drones over the Belgorod region, and that households and administrative buildings were damaged in an attack by Ukrainian drones on Kursk.

Russian air defences downed Ukrainian drones over the Tula and Belgorod regions, Moscow's defence ministry said on Tuesday, without indicating if there had been damage or casualties.

Two drones "were destroyed" by air defences over the Tula region south of Moscow, Russia's defence ministry said in a statement on Telegram.
