State land trespassers eye upmarket properties

Over 4,300 acquisition applications have been submitted to the platform for the legalization of encroached state land throughout Greece since it opened on November 1, although a large number of supporting documents are required.

Of those, 3,472 applications (80%) were submitted by potential beneficiaries in Attica and most concern upmarket areas, such as Ano Glyfada, Panorama in Voula and municipalities around Mount Ymittos.

At Panorama, for example, sale prices start from 4,800 euros per square meter and reach up to €9,000-10,000/sq.m.

For encroachers the purchase price is calculated based on zone rates ("objective values")​​ and other criteria.
