Minor losses for index in thin bourse trading

The Greek bourse’s main index endured minor losses in Monday’s session in relatively thin trading, as stocks showed a mixed picture.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,329.20 points, dropping 0.11 percent from Friday’s 1,330.69 points. On the contrary, the large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 0.12 percent to 428.53 points, thanks to the significant profits registered by OPAP and Mytilineos, OTE telecom, Public Power Corporation and Coca-Cola HBC.

Alpha Bank posted the biggest decline, closing 5.15 percent lower just minutes before its book building announcement. National Bank fell 4.24 percent and TERNA Energy contracted 3.68 percent. OPAP added 4.49 percent, Mytilineos climbed 2.64 percent, CCHBC grew 1.84 percent and PPC increased 1.74 percent.

In total, 66 stocks registered gains, 67 recorded losses and 25 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 71.3 million euros, less than a third of last Friday’s 246.5 million.

The bourse will reopen on Wednesday after Tuesday’s national holiday.
