Lavrov to visit Belgrade on June 16-17

MOSCOW - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay a visit to Serbia on June 16-17, Alexander Lukashevich, spokesman for Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday.

While in the Serbian capital, Lavrov will meet President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, and First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Lukashevich said.

Nikolic: State of emergency until reconstruction is complete

SVILAJNAC - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said Wednesday that the state of emergency, as a warning of danger, has been lifted in Serbia, but that the country will remain in a state of emergency until the last home damaged by the floods is rebuilt.

Visiting the flood-damaged kindergarten in Svilajnac, Nikolic warned that the troubles are not over.

100th anniversary of beginning of Reiss' work in Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will attend a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of work of Swiss professor and forensic scientist Archibald Reiss in Serbia, which will be held in Topcider Park on Thursday.

The president will lay a wreath, pay tribute to Reiss and deliver a speech, the president's press service released in a statement.

Nikolic: KiM elections pose a challenge

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said in a meeting with British Minister for Europe David Lidington on Monday that the government of Serbia will take a joint stance on whether to invite Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) to vote in the June 8 elections, considering the questionable conditions under which the citizens would vote and what they would gain from it.

Nikolic invites Russia, India to donor conference

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic held separate meetings in Belgrade on Monday with the Ambassadors of Russia and India Alexander Chepurin and Narinder Chauhan, respectively, and invited them to join the international donor conference to help Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina rebuild after the recent catastrophic floods.
