Section of coastal road closed to detonate WWII bomb
An army bomb disposal unit was working on Thursday morning to set off a controlled explosion that will neutralize a World War II 500lb bomb that was found the day before in the southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada.
The unexploded ordnance was found during construction work at the old Elliniko airport, the site of a major property development project.

Flooding in Athens as Storm Daniel reaches capital
Flooding has been reported on a number of streets in Athens as Storm Daniel, which has caused havoc in many parts of the country for the past three days, reached the capital.
The rainfall began in the morning but by 4 p.m., the situation had deteriorated in many areas, with heavy downpours and intense lightening in the capital and Piraeus.

Property market bullish across sectors
The real estate sector's prospects appear to be bright, at least for the near future, with prices rising and several important projects taking shape.

The microbial analyzes in seawater taken from 50 beaches from Piraeus port to Vouliagmeni showed that 43 are clean but seven are unsafe.

Hand grenade found in a residential complex in Glyfada
A hand grenade was found in an outdoor area of a residential complex in the southern suburb of Glyfada, police said Wednesday.
The circumstances under which the hand grenade was found have not yet been clarified.
As soon as the suspicious device was discovered, a team from the bomb disposal unit rushed to the scene to take necessary action.
Police investigate bomb explosion in Glyfada
Police in Athens are investigating an explosion of a handmade bomb at the entrance to an apartment building in the southern suburb of Glyfada.
The explosion, which occurred at 1:50 a.m., caused material damage.
Police said the improvised device comprised two gas canisters.
