Former and current Greek Police officials to stand trial for misconduct in TV host protection case

Former senior officials of the Greek Police (ELAS) and current officers are set to stand trial for dereliction of duty related to the unwarranted and excessive police protection provided to journalist, TV show host, and model agent Menios Fourthiotis, who has a history of legal troubles, Kathimerini has learned.

Police opens investigation into Psychiko murder video leak

Hellenic Police announced on Tuesday that an investigation has been ordered into the leak to the media of the video of the 54-year-old surveyor murder in Psychiko. 

"All available evidence will be analyzed to identify the source of the video and take the necessary measures to restore order and justice," states the announcement.

Corruption pervades public real estate

The investigation of the Hellenic Police into an assault case in early June in Maroussi, northern Athens, uncovered a corruption ring within the Hellenic Public Properties Co (HPPC), which manages and develops private real estate assets of the Greek state.

The victim of the hammer attack on the morning of June 3 was a 47-year-old man who works as a short-term leasing manager at HPPC.

Prison officer suspended

A police officer who was arrested for participating in a criminal organization that imported drugs, cellphones and money into Ioannina Prison in northwestern Greece was suspended by Hellenic Police Headquarters on Thursday. According to a relevant announcement, an internal investigation into the police officer's activities has been ordered. 

Officers arrested in ongoing raid in Ioannina prison, report says

Several officers has been arrested in an ongoing operation of the Greek Police's (ELAS) internal affairs department inside a prison in northwestern Greece, to clamp down on corruption within the force, state-run broadcaster ERT said on Monday.

The raid involves members of counterterrorism unit EKAM from Thessaloniki, riot police, a prosecutor and officers investigating the case.
