Lawyers adopt resolution on protection of their profession
SREMSKI KARLOVCI - Officials of bar organisations and participants of an international roundtable on problems related to the lawyer profession and its relations with notaries public adopted on Tuesday a resolution on the protection of the independence of the lawyer profession in Serbia.
Bar Association seeks referendum on notaries
BELGRADE - The Bar Association of Serbia (AKS) has decided to file a motion for a referendum on the Law on Public Notaries and issues that have spurred a two-month strike of lawyers.
The AKS announced in a statement on Wednesday that it will also file a lawsuit to annul the registration of the Lawyers' Society of Serbia, a new association of lawyers registered on November 17.

Serbian, French notarial systems to cooperate
BELGRADE - The president of the Serbian Chamber of Public Notaries Miodrag Djukanovic and Honorary President of the High Council of French Notariat (CSN) Laurent Dejoie have signed an agreement on cooperation, aimed at improving the development of the notarial system in Serbia.

BELGRADE -- The Bar Association of Serbia (AKS) has thanked Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić "for acknowledging the existence of lawyers' justified demands."
The organization also said they were grateful he did so "as a member of the executive branch of government."

BELGRADE - The amendments to the law on public notaries and the law on real estate transactions, which are in parliamentary procedure, are in line with the Serbian constitution, and meet the "legitimate demands of the associations of lawyers" that have launched the ongoing strike of lawyers, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said on Wednesday.

Parliament adopts amendments to Law on Public Notary Service
BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament adopted Wednesday amendments to the Law on Public Notary Service and to the Law on Real Estate Trade, which abolished the monopoly of public notaries in drawing up real estate contracts and imposed a new levy to be paid by the notaries.
