Disruptions in train services due to three-day strike

There will be no intercity train services and Proastiakos suburban railway services in Greece between Tuesday and Friday due to a three-day strike announced by the union representing workers at railway operator Trainose.

As a result of the strike there will also be no connection between the metro and the suburban railway to Athens International Airport.

Strike means no trains from Tuesday, including to Athens airport

The union representing workers at railway operator Trainose has announced a three-day strike starting Tuesday, which means that there will be no intercity train services and Proastiakos suburban railway services in Greece until Friday.

The strike also means there will be no connection between the metro and the suburban railway to Athens International Airport.

Labor Day action to disrupt public services

Several strikes and work stoppages will cause disruptions in public transportation services on Monday, as workers mark Labor Day.

A 24-hour strike will be staged by Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) employees, as well as workers on the capital's Proastiakos suburban railway, starting midnight on Sunday and ending midnight on Monday, and affecting services to Athens airport.

Train passengers in for more trouble Wednesday

Services on Greece's national railway network are set to be disrupted again late Wednesday due to rolling three-hour stoppages called by unions.

Delays and cancellations are expected to affect passengers using the Athens suburban railway (Proastiakos) and intercity trains, as services will come to a halt between 9 p.m. and midnight.

Service on Greece's national and suburban (Proastiakos) railways was expected to be suspended Monday through Wednesday, as unions have called for continuous rolling strikes following a decision by the country's privatization fund, TAIPED, to accept a bid for the sale of a 100 percent stake in Greek railway operator Trainose.
