Commuter, commercial trains crash near Athens; no one injured
A train of the Proastiakos suburban railway crashed into a passing commercial train near the station of Rouf in western Athens on Tuesday.
No one was injured.
The two trains were running along the same line and both were heading toward Piraeus when the collision occurred.
The accident suspended service of the Proastiakos to Piraeus as crews work to resume operation.
New suburban railway station opens in Athens suburb of Tavros
Transport Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis on Wednesday inaugurated a new station on the Athens-Piraeus Proastiakos suburban railway line.
The new station in Tavros, near Athens's southern coast, is located on Constantinoupoleos and Korytsas streets. It is expected to provide service to hundreds of commuters traveling between the capital's downtown area and the country's biggest port.
Suicide averted at Athens metro station
There are delays on Line 3 of the Athens metro after a passenger reportedly attempted to commit suicide at Doukissis Plakentias station.
Authorities said that the driver saw the young man fall onto the tracks and managed to stop the train in time.

Athens-Patra in just two hours

Commuters will be able to travel from Athens to the western port city of Patra by train in just two hours once the construction of the Suburban Railway (Proastiakos) section from Kiato to Rododafni is completed by METKA SA, the listed company that won the projects tender. This is expected in 2017.
