A yellow warning code for high temperatures has been issued across Bulgaria for today and tomorrow, July 10 and 11. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, with Sofia forecasted to hit 34 degrees. Shumen and Ruse will experience 39 degrees, Plovdiv and Silistra 38, and Yambol, Kardjali, Vidin, and Sandanski 37 degrees.

The “wave” of bad weather affecting our country since yesterday is worsening today, with the main features being rain, thunderstorms and high lightning activity. The phenomena are expected to weaken late Thursday evening.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, short rains, thunderstorms, and hail are expected today, predominantly in the eastern half of Bulgaria and in the Rilo-Rhodope region.

Overnight across Bulgaria, skies will generally be clear with light to moderate south-southeasterly winds prevailing, except for North-Eastern Bulgaria where occasional cloud cover and brief rain showers are expected.

Meanwhile, a yellow code for rain is in effect for the districts of Sofia-city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Lovech, and Pleven.

According to the forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, today will be mostly sunny. In the afternoon, cumulus-rain clouds will develop over the western half of the country, bringing short-term rain and thunderstorms, with conditions for hail in some areas.
