Highly trained manpower is wasted on low-skilled jobs
One in every three Greek workers are employed in jobs below their skill level, mostly in the civil service, commerce, accommodation and food service, in positions where their skills are not utilized, according to a report by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).
Subsidy for part of salary increase for under-25s
The Labor Ministry will cover a quarter of the total increase in salary costs of corporations from the abolition of the subminimum salary for the under-25s.
The subsidy will concern 50 percent of the employers' social security contributions toward the main pension of each worker up to 25 years old who until recently received 510.95 euros per month.

Deductions render salary raises pointless
Greece is not a good place to seek a pay raise. In the private sector, for an average employee on a monthly net salary of 1,168 euros to get a raise of just 45 euros a month, their employer has to pay twice that amount, 90 euros, with half of it going to the tax authorities and the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA).
