License plates returned in Thessaloniki due to coronavirus

All license plates that had been removed from vehicles - regardless of infringement - are being returned by the Thessaloniki Municipal Police, due to the complications created by the coronavirus outbreak.

Authorities said the measure is being implemented in order to prevent overcrowding on public transport but also to facilitate any necessary transport movements.

The Russians have over 60 Million Cars

The number of registered vehicles in Russia has reached over 60.5 million vehicles, TASS reported from the press centre of the Russian Interior Ministry.

Statistics show that Russians buy cars most often in the spring and early summer, since then the peak of registrations is then.

Compared to a year earlier, the number of vehicles increased by 1.3%.

License plates to be returned for election

Motorists who have had their license plates removed for minor parking offenses will be able to reclaim them from the confiscating authority in the runup to Sunday's election, the Transport Ministry said on Wednesday.
The decision, which does not benefit motorists nabbed for "anti-social" violations like parking on a wheelchair ramp, was made to facilitate voters needing to travel.

Traffic Police with Intensified Checks For Alcohol in Sofia

The traffic police in the capital have launched stronger checks on alcohol and narcotic substances.

The operation is part of TISPOL and will continue until 9 June.

License checks will be made, valid Motor Third Party Liability insurance,  electronic fiches and unpaid fines. Drivers will also be checked to ensure that they are using belts and that child safety systems.
