The sale of the new electronic vignette for cars starts on December 17 and they will take effect on 1 January next year.
They will be purchased through the bgtoll.bg site, a mobile application, over 500 self-service terminals, as well as in retail outlets.

Car registrations increased by 17.9 percent in July, with 17,685 plates issued to new or second-hand imported cars, compared to 14,998 in the same month last year.

As of Friday, drivers who have had their license plates confiscated by police for minor offenses can reclaim them ahead of the August 15 national holiday, traditionally when Greeks set off for their summer vacations, many traveling large distances by road.

Motorists can retrieve their license plates after paying the corresponding fine.

SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 17 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria rose by an annual 22.6% to 18,082 in the first half of the year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, ACEA, said on Tuesday.

In June, alone, new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria increased by an annual 11.9%, reaching 3,586, ACEA said in a press release.

The Citizens' Protection Ministry has ordered that license plates removed from vehicles for parking offenses be returned to their owners for the holidays.

Motorists will be able to retrieve their plates from the police precinct that seized them so long as this was before Thursday, December 21.
